Jetlag, Bank Holidays and 30° heat.

So this blog was gonna be all about my first week in Melbourne but there is just too much to fit in and its taking me too long so im gonna really quickly recap on the first 3 weeks then we are all up to date and this blog can go back to being what its meant to be…..mostly my garbled thoughts in the moment.

So week 1. Jetlag kicked my arse! 2pm id be exhausted and then 1am wide awake. With a little help from my good friend Phenergan I was able to kick it pretty much after 5 days. It got easier after that point anyway.

I was also introduced to the wonderful world of darts by my cousin, I actually really enjoyed it. Not sure if it was cos I liked hanging out with him or if I just liked the darts, who knows. Don’t any of you tell him I enjoy his company!!!

Week 2 started with an apartment viewing in the city. A few actually. Loads of people at each of them. There is so much competition its crazy. I submitted applications for 2 of them. Both in the same building, both studio apartments, both fairly similar in size, both fully furnished and both the same amount each week.

I also started work in which was scary and exciting in equal measure. I absolutely feel like a first year student again. The way you feel when everything is new and you dont know where anything is or who anyone is. Its a little overwhelming.

But the people I work with are all super lovely and supportive. They have made it really easy for me to settle in to the job.

Week 3! Scott has decided to fuck off back to the UK so I literally know nobody. I also moved into one of the apartments I applied for. It moves so fast here. I love it. Mainly because its all mine. Ive never lived on my own before and its very exciting.

Had a little wobble this week in that I missed the people from home. Had a couple days where I cried a bit. Thursday I went to work and cried 5 times all before 9 am but then the next day I had my first delivery. My very first Aussie baby, so that turned things around a bit. Still missing the people at home, massively, but not enough to come back lol.

So second week at work was good, im now counted in the numbers but everyone is still answering all my bloody annoying questions and helping out when I dont know what im doing (ehoch is about 95% of the time). I move to the wards next week so that will be a bit more settled as thats what I loved back home. Ill be there for 8 weeks aswell so hopefully make some actual connections with colleagues.

So this blog isn’t funny or even that interesting but it brings us up to date.

Next time ill tell you all about the singles events ive gone to…..the dating life is getting into full swing and ive already got some cracking stories……
